I like Big, Exciting, and Challenging Projects. However, even I have to admit, quick ‘n’ brainless is nice too. These Felt ‘n’ Fabric Coasters are an excellent last-minute gift, or a beginner’s sewing project.
To make them, I ironed a 4-inch square of scrap fabric, cut “on the bias” to limit fraying, onto a 4-inch square of felt with some Heat ‘n’ Bond Lite. Then the edges were topstitched to keep it all together. I found a size 14 topstitching needle worked great for the thickness of the felt. I briefly thought about embroidering the edges with an embroidered blanket stitch (or a “hooker” could crochet the edges), but I wanted to keep it simple.
Not so simple that I didn’t also take the time to make a coaster basket from a 8-inch square of felt and fabric.
Enjoy your week! I hope everyone stays safe, warm, and dry!
Have you made any quick ‘n’ easy projects recently?
