Girls Fleece Poncho (McCall’s 6431)

I’ve been hankering to make fleece poncho’s since I saw Rae’s poncho for her little girl last winter. (Notice how I am using her first name and pretending we are friends. heh.) Finding McCall’s Girl’s Poncho Pattern (6431) made it an easy project to pull off.

I think Rae’s version with the turtle neck and in-seam pockets is rondonkulously cute, but Gianna insisted on the heart pockets (of course), the zipper (ugh!), and a hood (sure, child).

For Gianna, I made a size “S” and scaled down the size “XS” to fit Gladys. Either I was overestimating the girl’s sizes, or this pattern runs a little big which left them looking like great blobs of blanket until I added some arm openings in the side seams. yay! Project saved!

So, nice of the weather to warm up a bit and be perfect poncho wearing weather.

Now, if you would excuse us, we are going to go play outside. Have a wonderful week!

  4. ponchos turned out just fine! your girls are great models :)

  5. Lovely. Thanks for inspiring me to try to make a poncho for my grand daughter. The pattern is straight forward. I made arm openings as per your suggestion. I found some pretty dotty fleece.

  6. Very Cute! I was thinking about buying that pattern. Does it have an option to add a lining to the poncho?
