I’m being perfectly honest here. The real reason I don’t have an E shop or sell handmade items is that I hate sewing anything more than once (or at the most twice). Sad, but true. Sewing the Halves (Sidekick Sew-along Day #9)

Eep! I am falling behind. It looks like we won’t be able to finish up by this Friday, but I think we can make it work for Monday. Today, we sew the Upper and Lower Sides to the Front and Back to create the two halves of the suitcase. Sewing the Handle (my favorite bag strap method) (Sidekick Sew-along Day #7)

Today in the sew-along, we make the suitcase handle!

This method of strap-making is a mash-up of techniques a la Amy Butler and The June Bride. No frustrating tube turning, or ugly lumpy corners here. :) I used this method to make all the straps on my Mommy Poppins bag and the recent clutch wallet. They look sharp and stand up to daily-bag-use abuse.  [Read more...]
