There are few new additions to our household.
Each of these helpful and huggable creatures lives on a small bed,
and has quite an appetite for clean-but-not-squeeky pajamas.

We feed them every morning and they give back the jammies at night. Isn’t that nice of them?
We call them our Pajama Eaters.
Project Materials
For this project you will need:
- 1 yard of fabric (42″ wide) for the monster’s body and limbs
- A fat quarter (18″ x 22″), or 1/2 yard cut of fabric for the mouth and pillow lining
- Fabric scraps for applique eyes and for the soles of the feet
- 9″ x 12″ sheet of white felt for teeth
- 12″ zipper that matches the mouth fabric
- Fiber-fill
- Sewable iron-on adhesive like Heat ‘n’ Bond Lite for the eye appliques
- matching threads
- The Usual Sewing Implements – sewing machine, pins, hand sewing needle, scissors, etc
I used quilter’s cotton to make the monsters pictured (except the hot pink material is corduroy). This pattern is designed for woven (non-stretchy) fabrics – quilting cotton and non-stretch apparel fabrics. If you have more experience sewing, you could try using some furry fabric for the body. How awesome would that be? If you want to use fleece, you will need to stabilize the mouth where it is sewn to the zipper. See this article for more info.

I just purchased the pattern for the Pajama Eaters using Pay Pal. I am confused regarding the fact that nowhere did anyone ask for my information. How will I be contacted? and When?
Thank you Linda Baker
It is an e-pattern. You should have been emailed a link to the email adress linked to your paypal account. Did you not receive one?
So sad the pattern is $10.
I really wish I had the $10 for this pattern! Oh, the woes of being a poor college kid. Maybe in a few years. Aha.
I am hoping you can help me?!? Back in August, when you were giving this pattern as a free download, I downloaded the tutorial and pattern I thought. I opened the file to start working on the project and only have the tutorial. What did I do wrong? Is there some way for me to get the pattern or purchase just the pattern from you? I really appreciate your help! By the way I love your blog!
Thank you.
I really wish you hadnt started charging for this. I tried to print out the pattern a few weeks ago but my computer was out of ink. I finally got ink yesterday and went to print it today to find that you started charging for it. : (
I can understand how that would be so frustrating for you! I tried to be clear that the free download was for a limited time only. I think using Google Docs to distribute the file was a poor choice on my part as it caused a lot of confusion as far as downloading the file and printing it off correctly. My lesson has been learned and I will come up with a new way of sharing files when the time comes to share my next pattern.
Also, I tried to contact you via the email address you left on the form and it was not able to be delivered. feel free to contact me at sewfearless at gmail dot com.
I bought the pattern, and started sewing today. I’m having A LOT of trouble with the legs…Can you help? I got the sole sewed to the leg, but I am now having trouble figuring out how to sew the leg to the body…Please help!!!!
sure!
(step 20) Make sure not to overstuff the legs. You will want a couple inches at the top to work with when sewing them on.
(step 21) Once the legs are stuffed, tuck the sides of the leg opening in to the center, making a big pleat on each side. The goal is to fold so that it is only about 4″ across. Baste the opening closed.
(step 23) Pin the legs on either side of the center bottom edge of the front face piece. The soles of the feet will be pointing upward to the top of the face and the basted leg openings will be lined up with the bottom edge. (see picture in step 23)
I hope that helps. Feel free to email me if you have more specific questions. sewfearless at gmail dot com
These are adorable! Would make great gifts for the little family members. Keeps the jammies out of the floor or all over!
It looks like I am in the same boat as pinaroseonme….I download the pattern/tutorial when it was free but can’t seem to locate the pattern….could you please provide some insight?
Thanks!
Perhaps it is hiding out in your “Downloads” or “Temporary” folder? The name of the files were “Pajama Eater – Tutorial.pdf” and “Pajama Eater – Pattern.pdf”. Maybe you can track them down by running a search on your hard drive.
Thanks, I know I saw it when I first downloaded…I have had to switch computers but I have everything saved on a flash drive from the old one…I will check now that I know it was in a separate file!
I just purchased this pattern about 30 seconds ago and I am so excited to get started on it this week! We have a sweet little friend turning 3 very soon and he is having a monster themed party, so I am sure he’s going to love this. An awesome, unique gift for $10!!
Hi! I´m from Peru, thanks for sharing your pattern, I just downloaded… if I lost the information can I contact you to send me another one? bc my computer is in a really bad condition
. God bless you!!.
I sent you an email.
I was one of the luckies that got my hands on the pattern when it was free, and I’m really excited to put it together! I have several planned for Christmas gifts. If I decide i want to sell from them, I might want to sell them someday, and if I do, rest assured I’ll come buy the pattern
I stumbled upon this pattern, funnily enough, using stumbleupon.com
I LOVE THIS! Just bought the pattern and went out and bought the fabric to make three of them of my younger sisters! I can’t wait
This is such a cute idea! I can’t wait until you share your next pattern, so creative !
Darling pattern! And, I don’t think $10 is too much to pay for something so cute. You should be compensated for your time and talents! Thanks for making this available!
I finished up 2 Pajama Eaters for my nephews for Christmas and my 3-year-old is so in love with them I’m scrambling to make 2 more for my girls! I’m wondering how I go about buying the cottage license? Thanks!
If you purchased the pattern, then you already have it! If you downloaded it during the free download period, all you need to do is purchase the pattern from here: http://sewfearless.com/patterns-and-tutorials/the-pajama-eater-pattern/
Aha! I do have the purchased copy but I hadn’t printed the first page of the pdf when I printed out the pattern pieces and tutorial. I see it now. Thank you!
Just purchased the pattern and look forward to making some PJ eaters. I know my kids will love them, but I might have to make one for myself first!
I hate to miss out on a freebie as much as the next person (bookmarked this when it was free, but failed to notice it was limited time. poop!), but am more than happy to support your talent and creativity! Best to you!
THank you so much. Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out on the next pattern release!
I saw this tutorial weeks ago, and then lost it somehow! I was sad to pay too, but it was so worth it to try to make these cute creatures. Thank you for sharing your creativity with me!!
Blessings.
Found this pattern yesterday, someone had posted it to facebook. And it Keeps popping up so I went and bought it today! I’m wondering how experienced a sewer you need to be. But if not now then eventually I will be able to make these cuties. Thanks for the awesome pattern!
There have been a number of beginning sewists who have made it successfully. And if you have any trouble at all, you are always welcome to ask questions over email. I hope you get to try it soon!
