Adventures into Furoshiki

August 14, 2009 by Jodi Leave a Comment

I received my birthday present in the mail today. A book called “Gift Wrapping with Textiles“.  So beautiful.

Here are my first naptime attempts. at furoshiki (pronounce “fwho-rooshki” or something like that).

Basic Wrap

This was the first one in the book and the simplest.  It looked great on the first try.  The fabric I used is a polyester “silk” cut 30×30 inches.

Twin Knot

I think this might be my favorite.  It is designed for  use on a long boxes, but it looked great on this one.  I love the way the fabric is wrapped to achieve this look.

Rabbit Wrap #2

The complexity continued to increase as I flipped through the rest of the book.  My kids love this ball wrapped in a handkerchief.

Wrapped CD

These were the only directions that were not immediately clear to me.  The positioning on the cloth was tricky in order to achieve the desired affect.

Simple Flower Wrap

This took me a while to make the “petals” right.  I look forward to trying it with two cloths to make more petals.

Ruby Red Rose

Another trickier one that I don’t feel like I have a handle on yet.

Overall, I am very pleased with how easier it was to get started with this and look forward to giving out gifts wrapped in textiles. 🙂
