Button Flower Hair Clips

February 8, 2010 by Jodi 1 Comment

Here is the promised tutorial for button flower hair clips.  It is laughably easy. And super cheap.A pack of 12 hair clips is $1 at Wal-Mart.  A piece of polyester felt is 25 cents.

So here goes…

Supplies: two identical green felt “leaves”, hair clip, large button, green thread, needle

Cut out two identical  felt “leaves” slightly larger than the hair clip.

The green leaf should be slightly bigger than the hair clip
Cut a slit through one of the “leaves” and push the bottom half of the hair clip through.  The slit will be off-center.

Sew down the "flower" on the other felt leaf

Sandwich the clip between the two leaves like so

Sew the leaves together with a running stitch along their outer edges

The back - all finished

the clip - all finished!

Once you figure out the basic sandwiching method, the possibilities of these felt hair clips are ENDLESS.  I’ll post more pics soon of the Valentine’s Day Clips I made for my daughter and nieces. UPDATE: here it is.
