A Butterfly Birthday: Poster Board Wings

October 23, 2010 by Jodi 4 Comments

This is the last of the “Butterfly Birthday” projects.  It was planned as an activity to do with the birthday guests. To make these butterfly wings, I glued to pieces of poster board together.  After it dried, I traced Gianna’s dress up fairy wings  the poster board. I could fit 4 sets of wings on it.

I let the children decorate their wings with markers and sparkly stickers.

After they finished, I hole punched 4 holes into the center and tied on cheap 1/4″ elastic for straps.

Some of my kids where more excited about this project than others.

It is a nice activity because it could be scaled up or down for age appropriateness. Matthias was content with stickers and Duncan covered every inch of his wings with marker. Gianna was content somewhere between.

If you are close to our house on her birthday (or on any day), you are totally invited over!
