Baptismal Gown (WIP) and More Blanket

February 23, 2011 by Jodi 9 Comments

Last night, I finally got started on making a baptismal gown for my little girl, and I am so geeked about how it is turning out. I am modifying a basic baptismal gown to make it look more like another ($300!) one that I love. I can barely believe I just sewed that!  It’s those little moments of victory that make sewing and learning new sewing skills so incredibly worth it.

And because I am posting anyway, here is yet another baby blanket. This one is fun because it holds the record for Fastest Baby Shower Gift Turn Around Time. Ten minutes after being invited, I walked out the door to go fabric shopping, and just 45 minutes later, I had the fabric in the wash.  The baby blanket and “Mommy Clips” where finished just in the time for the shower that evening. I was glad I could still give handmade at such short notice, and I hope her new little girl loves her not-too-pink girly baby blanket.

Well, it’s time for me to get my kids down for nap-time, so I can continue puttering away at the baptismal gown.
What’s on your sewing table these days?

That is the prettiest nesting I have seen to date!

On my sewing, er… Box.. Is a company logo fleece vest I promised my valentine I would convert into a normal fleece jacket by adding sleeves.

I have heard so much about your projects, but I never knew you kept a blog of them! Now I can admire from afar. Looks like I have two years to catch up on :). This gown is amazing; my hats off to you. Here’s to learning new tricks!

Jess! Welcome to my blog! I have been bummed that we couldn’t share our love of sewing with being so far apart. I am so happy to see you blogging now. 🙂

It’s McCalls 4865, you can buy it at most big fabric stores and on their website. You can see the finished dress here. https://sewfearless.com/2011/05/13/a-baptism/
