More Christmas presents finished up! These I can share because I don’t think any of my kids are subscribed to my blog. heh. If I keep sewing at this rate, maybe I will have time to get around to making some stockings this year. (Please? )
I know Christmas PJs are a pretty common gift, but I happen to be a fan of Christmas Bathrobes. They get more use in my house.
Fleece is fun to work with. No need to finish the seams, or fuss about with double-folding the hem. If you want to get super fancy, you can top-stitch down the seam allowances. My favorite part of sewing with fleece is that the thickness and stretch of the fabric cover up any seam wobblies. To work with the thickness, I recommend a longer stitch and some good needles. (Shmetz Size 14 Stretch needles have worked well for me.)
We happen to be a hood-lovin’ family. I’ve tracked down a couple of robe patterns that include them. McCalls 4643 for my toddlers (Gladys and Matthias).
(I added the pockets, because every child enjoys a pocket.)
Then, I used Simplicity 3575 for Gianna and Duncan. I can’t believe how loooong these robes are. How are my babies so big already? sniffle and sigh.
In case you are wondering, Yes, these are robes are as luscious and soft as they look. It was so cuddly to sew them up. Mmm anti-pill fleece. 🙂
Do you sew Christmas PJs or Robes? How many are you cranking out this year? What is your favorite pattern?
Tell me about it in the comments.
