If all goes well, this Thursday morning I will be boarding a plane headed to Salt Lake City, leaving behind 4 children and a husband who has always been way more supportive of this sewing/blogging/business thing than is reasonable. These next couple days are going to be crazy busy as I arrange rides and baby care, pack bags, do laundry, finish up a couple last minute sewing proejcts, shop and plan for food, and say many prayers that my husband still passes this semester even though his wife is abandoning ship at a crucial moment (sorry, honey!).
I am attending Sewing Summit, a sewing and blogging conference that I have been dying to attend for the last two years. One of the attendees arranged a “Secret Swap” which I joined at the last minute. She gave each of us a partner to make a pouch, or pillow cover, or mini quilt with the receiving sewist’s tastes in mind. The partners are kept secret until we exchange our gifts at the Summit. I decided to play to my strengths and make a “pouch” of sorts for my partner’s sewing supplies.
You might recognize the shape of this “pouch” as the same as my pleated wallet. I’ve modified the pattern to include piping, and swapped out the card insert for a second zippy.
The exterior is a fine waled corduroy, the coordinating fabrics are DS Quilts, and this bag features my very first twist lock! Such a fun little feature, but it was rather nerve-wracking to cut holes in a mostly finished bag to install the lock.
I hope you like it, partner!
See you soon!
Let’s hear it for supportive hubbies! Have a super time! And safe travels.
I’m so glad you’re going! Have a great time and tell us all about it when you get back!
I am so Jelly you are going! I lke the pouch. I have used and made 2 aprons with the same flower fabric 🙂
Have fun! Love the pouch you made. =)
I’ll be there, too! Hope to meet up with you!! –Anne
Love this, I need one! I may have to attempt this soon. I hate throwing my sharp smaller scissors in a bag with my fabric or other items. I’ve been known to throw them in a plastic box, but I don’t like it. Need to make myself a pretty bag soon.
