Monster Truck Birthday Cake

May 23, 2011 by Jodi 5 Comments

My baby boy Matthias, the lover of cars, trucks, dogs, swords, and puppies, is growing up way too fast. He turned 2 on Saturday.  We celebrated with a waffle breakfast and cake after dinner.  It wasn’t a large or fancy celebration.  Instead, we spent the day playing with a newly expanded wooden train set and enjoying the nice weather.

Cake decorating has always been my favorite part of birthdays, and as usual, Parenting.com came through with a Monster Truck Cake tutorial. It was fun to make and a big hit with the birthday boy.

Matthias thought the birthday song was a prayer before eating cake.

Happy Birthday, Matthias! We are so happy to have you in our lives.

Love it!! Prayer before cake… that’s precious 🙂 Great cake success! Happy belated birthday to your bouncing boy!

Awww, Matthias is so cute. Beautiful cake, Jodi! I’m lovin’ the bright colors. I also like Disney Family Fun Magazine (http://familyfun.go.com/magazine/) for ideas… 🙂

Thanks. This time I bought some Wiltons gel food coloring. It really did make a better color than the food coloring you can buy at the grocery store.
