A round of strep has left me no better off this week than last – project wise. On the upside, I’ve been experimenting with indoor flash photography. The above photo was taken inside at night with a flash. For the non how-to-craft-blog reading folks, this is a pretty-craft-blog no-no. But I now have a Secret Tutorial Photo Weapon… the “LightScoop“. I bought my husband one earlier this year and I have only started experimenting with it. The idea is to bounce the flash light off the walls instead shining it directly onto your subject. That way the light looks more natural. I have also seen this hack floating around pinterest which does the same sort of thing, but with a business card.

So I am plugging along in the evenings as best as my “little helper” allows me. I should be finishing up the “crazy bag project” I alluded to in the last post today. Hooray!
Randomly, do you know what I like best about this parenting gig? Being able to show my kids little things that are totally new and fascinating for them. Then, getting to enjoy their excitement and wonder, and experiencing it all again when they retell it to their dad when he gets home from work.
I spotted this guy out my kitchen window yesterday. Which prompted me yelling for my kids like a crazy person, “GET OUTSIDE NOW THERE IS A REALLY GIANT BUG!!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE IT!!!!!!”
Together, we watched “Edward, The Praying Mantis” (as he was named) walk and hop around for 45 minutes while I was supposed to be making dinner. Afterwords Duncan said to me “Mom, I’m so glad we have windows in our kitchen and you can look out them and find really cool things to show us.” My pleasure, kiddo. My pleasure. 🙂
What was your favorite moment of this past week?
Nighttime is one word…..
Better now?
A) Awesome tip with the LightScoop/biz card.
B) I hear Christmas gets a revamp when you have kids who get as excited as you did as a kid.
C) “Mom, I’m so glad we have windows in our kitchen and you can look out them and find really cool things to show us.” — This is so cute!! Out of the mouths of babes!!
