Mini Poppins Bag - by SewFearless.com

So I haven’t been sewing as much as I would like these last couple weeks, but for a good reason! I’ve been tackling digitizing and writing up and testing the Mommy’s Poppins Bag pattern.

Standard Poppins, Mini Poppins - sewfearless.com

An exciting thing I am trying to include in the instructions how to scale the bag size for any size internal bag frame. So, if you can’t get your hands on a 14″ frame or if you want a handbag instead of a shoulder bag, I will have you covered.

I also tested out adding some piping. Verdict: ridiculously cute, but a HUGE bugger to sew-in. However, I might be convinced to show you how to add it after the pattern is released… if you ask extra nice and if I am not busy pushing out a baby or something… we shall see.

That’s all I have time for… I’m off to edit some more and test, test, TEST!

LOVE IT. Also, I’m obsessed with the piping… Don’t know if I would tackle it though. 🙂

I think my biggest trouble was trying to do a fat piping with a 1/4″ seam allowance. And it is thick wool felt. A bad combination.

CUTE Mini Poppins bag. I love the addition of the piping… but yeah, piping can be really difficult with thick fabrics and tiny seam allowances!

Both bags are gorgeous! The piping is a really nice tough – I would image from what you described above though, a bit trick to get in there correctly. Awesome work as usual!

Can I just say that selfishly I am so glad you are working on the pattern for the Poppins bag!! I am due in May, and really wanted to make this bag but figured you had your hands too full to knock it out before your little one arrived 🙂

Bless you for making a pattern!! I cannot wait to get my hands and my fabric stash into this bag. Seems to me it would be perfect for travel! toss the mini in my suitcase, and switch out for a day of tourist-type shenanigans. I will be waiting (patiently) for updates on this!
