I suck at fitting pants, and I need help.
phew. I’m glad I got that out. It is just that it is kind of awkward to admit when you made a public declaration that you were going to figure out how to do fit this year.
These are my attempt at making the trouser pattern from Sandra Betzina’s Pants Fitting class. It was a pants style I wasn’t excited about to begin with (strike 1), and it is all sorts of awkward fitting in the back (strike 2), and then the poly gabardine is horribly scratchy in the seams (strike 3! You’re out!). I didn’t even bother finished the waistband and hemming.
So… where am I at with this project now? I have two firm leads on teachers that are willing to help me fit a pants pattern – one locally, and one via email. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Listen up, Ugly Pants! You may have won the last two battles, but I will win this war.
Pants are NOT easy. Wishing you luck! I know you will win in the end…
🙂 Chris
Have you checked out the book “The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting”?
It doesn’t make everything all of a sudden wonderfully easy, but for me at least it gave a good geometric description of what fitting is trying to accomplish, how to spot where things are going wrong, and how to experiment with fixing them. Good luck! 🙂
I will definitely check it out now 🙂
I know that if you keep working at it, you will win the pants war!
You’re hilarious 🙂 I know you’ll win though… because you keep trying 🙂 I would have hit the clearance rack at Kohls instead long ago lol But I will never have perfect fitting amazing pants that I made.
