“A Soft Landing” Airplane Softie

December 29, 2010 by Jodi 1 Comment

I hope you are having a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We had a lot of fun planning out presents for nieces and nephews this year.  After months of keeping quiet, I am glad to that I can finally share them with you.  This one in particular because it is something that I designed myself.

My brother-in-law is an aerospace engineer and he has always enjoyed giving airplane toys to my children.  Now that he is a proud father of a 11 month old boy and I designed this stuffed airplane toy for his son especially.

The shape of the plane was based on of a gorgeous (and unreasonably priced) wooden airplane, but made of cotton and stuffed with soft fiber-fill, it has a much more babyish feel to it.

Of course, I had to make another one for my younger nephew, and my god-daughter (the daughter of another rocket scientist). Sadly, hers was shipped off before I had a chance to photograph it. Trust me, airplanes are totally adorable in hot pink and teeny polka dots.

Happy landings, kids!

UPDATE: The pattern is now available here!
