Fearless Feats: I swear this is a sewing blog

dress sneak peak

Guess What! I’ve been sewing!! I made a dress with a nifty mommy feature that I would love to share with you by the end of this week.  AND I designed a really fun toy that reduces parental workload. I am ridiculously excited, but I want to keep it under wraps until I have the tutorial ready to share too. I can hardly stand it.

And guess what else? YOU have been sewing too! I’ve had a couple of readers send me photos of their Sew Fearless inspired projects and I wanted to share them with you.

Leila's Apron - Front

My twitter buddy Lelia (@lbreton) made herself a Best Worn Barefoot Smock Apron in May and posted a review of it on her website Bilingual Baby. Isn’t that the perfectest fabric choice for an apron? I like how she is wearing the straps crossed in the back.

I have to admit I’m a compulsive blog stat checker.  It’s fun to see how people stumble on your blog. I was geeked to discovered that Victoria from Moments d’Oci made a Needle Book as a gift for a friend as well as one for herself. She has some lucky friends.  She made the cover out of a synthetic leather.Victoria's NeedlebookAnd most recently, I heard from Jessica from Smart Style Tips.  This fashionista is a brand new sewist and is using her new knowledge to makeover her bland apartment dining room.  Don’t you love her fabric choices for these custom placemats with coordinating table napkins? She used a really old tutorial about making your own placemats to sew hers.

Jessica's Place SettingMaking your own placemats is really handy if you want to make these adorable Place Setting Placemats for your children. I can never find pretty fabric placemats on the cheap.  [Random editorial question: is it “placemat” or “place mat”.  I can’t decide.]

I’m so proud of these ladies.  It is seeing pictures like these that keeps me blogging and making tutorials.  If you make any Sew Fearless inspired projects, I would love to keep featuring reader projects. Send in those pictures!

Have you performed any Fearless Sewing Feats lately? Have you tackled any intimidating projects?

Sew Fearless is about a reckless pursuit of the sewing craft. It is about not letting your fears talk you out of your dreams. It is a place to go for encouragement, information, and sewing camaraderie. It’s a place where “done” is better than “perfect”, and where saying “I didn’t try” is worse than “I failed”. Read More…
