A Wonderwoman Barely Holding It Together

June 4, 2011 by Jodi 9 Comments

This parenting four kids things is quite a wild ride. I go from feeling like Wonderwoman one minute to barely-holding-it-together the next.

Wonderwoman: This morning, I took four children to Wal-Mart buy myself to buy flowers for our garden. I weeded and planted them with the children helping me.
Barely-Holding-It-Together:  Then, I was crabby with my children because we were all hot, tired, and hungry. There are mountains of laundry in the living room, dishes all over the kitchen, and I need to go grocery shopping.

Wonderwoman: I spent all day yesterday (all my spare moments anyway) trying to figure out how to do a FBA (full bust adjustment).  I finally figured it out at the end of the day…
Barely-Holding-It-Together: …only to destroy my work with a too hot iron.  Tears were shed and ice cream was eaten.  I really was hoping to finish a dress this week, but it didn’t happen.

Wonderwoman: We traveled to Michigan last weekend to introduce Gladys to family and friends. I even was able to sneak out a get a coffee with Karen of Patterns by Figgy.  She is one of those passionate talented people that makes you feel cool just be being in her presence.  Hopefully, I made up for my lack of interesting things to say by having a totally adorable baby. 😉
Barely-Holding-It-Together: We still haven’t recovered from the trip. I am not sure I will recover from it anytime in the next week, and we may have to take another trip next weekend.

How about you? Are you feeling more Wonderwoman-like? Or you barely holding it together?

P.S. Bernina is waiting until Monday to announce the winners. I’ll let you know when I know.

I feel like that all the time. I have an incredibly full schedule all the time and it makes me cringe when people say it must be easy for me since I do it all the time. If they only knew!

It sounds like we all feel the way you described it, Jodi. I hope that is a comfort to you. And I wish I lived nearby so my daughters and I could come over and help you for a few hours. I clearly remember those days of having several young ones all close in age. It was overwhelming. God bless you and hang in there. I love your posts!

Thanks. It does help to know there are others who have lived through it. 🙂

Yeah, that is a completely adorable baby. So many of us live our lives in constant transition between those extremes! It’s the mommy condition, I think.

GREAT post Jodi. Beautiful pics of your wonderful family. Clearly you ARE a wonder woman, whether it FEELS like it or not sometimes 🙂

And I am barely holding it together, 99.9% of the time. And I don’t even have sweet, adorable, high needs people that I’m caring for!!

Kroger Private Selections: Maine Blueberry Cheesecake…in case you need a suggestion.
My new favorite icecream : )

It’s those wonder woman moments (and those smiling faces) that keep you going!

Tears and ice cream….I can relate!

I have four too, although mine are spread across 7 years. My days are a roller coaster between wonder woman and barely holding it together! Those pics are precious.

Your kids are happy you can tell by the photos..That is what is most important…The house work will be there tomorrow, but they grow up too fast. I have 3 grandchildren and it seems like yesterday then their mom was a baby…So enjoy them now and try if you can too not worry about getting everything done at once…I know that is easier said than done..

    Beautiful kids by the way…
