The Rose Quilt – 9 Patches

Rose Quilt In Progress - 9 Patches for Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt - sewfearless.com

I post so many pictures of my “in progress” projects on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter that I feel silly writing “Work In Progress” posts.  I like recording the process for future reference and reminiscing though, like I did with Duncan’s Roads Quilt.

I spent an evening sorting the cut squares into 35 unique groups of 9 different prints, and have just recently finished sewing those groups into “9-patches.”  (See the tutorial at Stitchory Dickory Dock to see an example of a “scrappy” Disappearing 9 Patch tutorial.)

I used my 1/4-Inch Quilting Foot (affiliate link) for the first time. It really does make it easier to have an accurate quarter-inch seam. I wouldn’t call it critical to have for quilting, but it was nice to discover in my bag of sewing feet.

Next up, I’ll be quartering up these blocks to make the 9-patches “disappear.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! I am hosting a Craft Night tonight, and I have been looking forward to it all week. Anyone else have social and crafty plans for the weekend?

Sew Fearless is about a reckless pursuit of the sewing craft. It is about not letting your fears talk you out of your dreams. It is a place to go for encouragement, information, and sewing camaraderie. It’s a place where “done” is better than “perfect”, and where saying “I didn’t try” is worse than “I failed”. Read More…
