I was one of Betz White’s pattern testers for her Road Tripper Duffle Bag.

It was fun being on the receiving end of a bag pattern again, especially for a designer of Betz’ caliber. She has thoroughly impressed me with the clarity of her written directions, even in the “rough” edit that I worked with.

Duncan was the muse for this project. He is quickly outgrowing his mini suitcase and needed something for some longer trips this summer. Under his instruction, I used only plain dark colors for the outside and, after some begging on my part, I was permitted one bright color on the inside.

It’s so fun to see this kid exploring his own personal style…

and I look forward to working with him again.

That is one cool bag! I thought the black on the sides was partial scallops at first…. ;-) I really like the fabrics too.
I like the fact Duncan was so involved in this project! The bag looks fab, and I love the pop of colour – even if it is only on the inside :)
