I’ve been obsessed with these marker pouches since I saw Lorainne pin them, and I am so happy that she figured out the details and posted a tutorial just in time for Father’s Day. It calls for some truly clever and fiddly construction. Of course, my stitching is not the precise perfection that her’s is, but I couldn’t have been prouder to give these to my artsy-fartsy husband for Father’s Day.
I mean really. Big Fat Zippy Pouches that turn into stand-alone pencil cups when unzipped? Pure. Brilliance.
Pouches always make great stash-busters. The black-and-orange pouch uses leftover wool melton (from my jacket) and the lining is leftover from Andy’s Color Bar Quilt (2wenty Thr3e – Kodachrome in Clementine). The white pouch is made out of a mystery fabric (linen-ish maybe? but super soft) that I used for an embroidered handprint pillow. I love fabric scraps that bring with them happy memories of projects past.
Other than that, I really don’t have much to say. Summer is keeping me busy with the kids (of course). I am still trying to find my rhythm with the kids being home all day and various activities popping up, but I feel like we are almost “there.”
Looking for the tutorial? These marker pouch were based on the tutorial found on ikatbag.com
Those are awesome! I’ve been trying to come up with an excuse to make one, but we threw all the kids markers/crayons/pencils away because they only drew on stuff they weren’t supposed to. =/ I really like the black and orange version you made. =)
I like that project! I might steal the idea!!
