Leather Box Pouch

March 30, 2015 by Jodi 5 Comments

A leather box pouch is currently my go-to gift.

Leather always takes even a simple project up a notch. Maybe because it has been classified as a “hard material to sew,” it makes it that much more special when you attempt it.

My secrets of success are to cut the outer layer all in one piece. The less leather seams the better! Also, I line the interior. Honestly, it is because my machine protests just a little too much with all the layers in the end seams. It makes for some really ugly seams, but they function just fine. And unless the giftee reads this, they are none the wiser.

I’ve been playing around with the assembly order and hit on a way to line it without sewing a single hand stitch, and all the seams are hidden! My method is kinda wacky to execute, so I am not sure if it is tutorial-worthy or not. Maybe after a couple more sews, I’ll have it down to a science.

How about you? What is your go-to handmade gift these days?

Jodi you Box Pouches are great, perfect gifts. I have been sewing reusable grocery totes as gifts. As we have to pay for all our grocery bags otherwise.
