Sweet Things for My Niece

October 21, 2015 by Jodi 1 Comment

Well hello there again! I don’t want to speak too soon, but I think I might be starting to get a hang of things again. I’ve actually been able to sneak back into my sewing room more and more regularly too. huzzah!

ring sling and sweater gift

One of the first makes I’ve managed since Ernest was born is this little gift set for my new niece. (arriving some time in the next month!) My sister-in-law requested a homemade ring sling from me after she witnessed the magical sleepy dust powers of my ring sling on Ernest.  She chose this amazing woven jacquard from JoAnn Fabrics. I nearly fell over when I found it. Has JoAnn’s stepped up their fabric game or what?!

I have made so many of these slings. If you want to see more of them, check out my baby project page.

The sweater is same pattern as the one I made for Ernest before he was born – The Carousel Cardigan by Froginette.

Speaking of Ernest’s sweater. This kid is so huge. He was busting out of his 3 month size sweater at 1 month old. He is 3 months old at the end of the week and barely fits into 6 month sized clothing. It is blowing my mind how fast he is growing.

Love these! I was never able to get the hang of the ring sling with my babies, but I’ve made several as baby gifts, and they seem to be well-appreciated!

Sew Fearless is about a reckless pursuit of the sewing craft. It is about not letting your fears talk you out of your dreams. It is a place to go for encouragement, information, and sewing camaraderie. It’s a place where “done” is better than “perfect”, and where saying “I didn’t try” is worse than “I failed”. Read More…
