Baby Girl Layette

March 31, 2016 by Jodi 6 Comments

My sister is having a baby girl in the next few weeks or so. This is her third child, but first daughter. I miss the itty-bitty girl outfits.  It’s been 5 years since we had a baby girl in our house. Truthfully, this baby girl layette set is as much for me as it is for her.

Baby clothing takes only a small amount of fabric, so I restricted myself to stash materials only for this project. Do you recognize them? I can see some matchy Aunty-Baby photos in my future. mwahaha.

Disclosure: The patterns from Jennuine Design are no-obligation review copies. I purchased the Brindlle & Twig pattern. This post contains affiliate links. See my blog policies for more info.

Okay, the details!

First up ,we have the LOL Swing Top by Jennuine Design. This pattern has been on my radar for a long time and it did not disappoint. I love the racer-back stye, and the little gathers in the back adding to the swing-y-ness. So much perfection. The pattern instructions are  incredibly thorough. I don’t think I really needed that much detail, but it would be wonderful for a less confident sewist. The print used is one of April Rhodes’ designs for Art Gallery Fabrics. My goodness, I love their fabrics so much. This jersey is wonderfully soft and stretchy with good recovery. Next season, when I go basic-sewing-crazy I should buy up more knit prints from them.

I paired the swing top with Jen’s Dressage Leggings using her “basic legging view” in an Art Gallery jersey in peachy custard.

Then, I had to make the Dressage leggings with the riding pant panels too! This time with AGF jersey in turquoise and Robert Kaufman Laguna jersey in navy.

The project wouldn’t be sufficiently girly without more quilted heart jersey!! I’m so obsessed. The pattern is Brindlle & Twig’s reversible wrap cardigan. (The quilted heart jersey is from Jo-Ann Fabric’s Doodles collection, but it is not available online.)

I’m really pleased with the accent cover-stitching on this cardigan.

The four pieces all coordinate with each other, which allows for mix-and-matching too.

Come soon, little dear. Aunt Jodi can’t wait to meet you!

You definitely get the best Aunt award 🙂 Love every single piece! Off to have another look at the leggings pattern. My tiny missy might need a few of these… A few hundred I mean!
