I had three baby shower invitations arrive in one week. That is a personal record for me, I think.
These crinkle gauze baby swaddles were such a life-saver for me last July when Ernie was born. Made with 1 1/2 yards of fabric, they are bigger than any swaddles sold in the store. They were lightweight for summer, big enough for swaddling my 3-month-old-sized baby, cool for nursing under on the occasions that I felt like I need the cover up a little, absorbent for burping, and handy for spreading on the grass and letting the baby watch his siblings play. The perfect blanket in my opinion.
So, I ordered 12 yards of gauze and made 8 swaddle blankets one afternoon last week. Yes, they are that quick and easy to sew. In fact, I have a tutorial already for you.
I chose more muted colors for this batch though. Not everyone appreciates my usual color choices. heh.
While I was at it, I finished up two more gifts which I started while I was still pregnant last summer. These are another “go to” gift. I have lost track of how many Emmeline aprons (pattern by Sew Liberated) I have made as gifts for brides.I’ve worn mine for almost 9 years now?
Sadly, I won’t be able to attend any of the baby showers or weddings, but I hope these packages arriving in the mail this week convey even a fraction of my joy and happiness for my family and friends. Nothing communicates love like a heartfelt handmade gift. Don’t you agree?
They are beautiful! I’ll be making a set for my 3rd baby in june!!
