My kids never listen to me. I keep telling them they aren’t allowed to grow up anymore, but they keep growing. They laugh when I tell them this and shriek with delight when I pretend to cry over their loss of babyhood.
At least they think I’m pretending.
Gianna, sensitive soul that she is, asks me about why I tell them not to grow, and I have to explain that you can feel two things at once. I am sad because I have to say goodbye to such a sweet babyhood and but I also feel an overwhelming joy and pride to see them grow into such a wonderful children.
She declared these to be “lemonade feelings”. Yes. Yes, they are.
Gianna in particular is making my life bittersweet. She has grown so tall this past school year. None of last year’s summer dresses are long enough this year. Happily, this was a problem that was easily remedied with a few yards of fabric and my sewing machine.
The project requirements were clear – unfussy construction, play-friendly, but with enough interest to keep it modern. The Groove Dress delivered on all three.
Of course, the fabric makes it all the more special. Foxes and florals? yes, please.
