…and just like that, school’s out for the summer.
As a thank you for my children’s teachers, I sewed them each a denim zipper pouch. You can never have too many zipper pouches, am I right?
The key to make this bulk sewing project fun was to turn the collection of bags into the project, instead of multiple individual projects. I used a rainbow zippers, matched them to rainbow lining fabrics, and then assembly lined them together in rainbow order. I wasn’t just sewing lots of bags, I was sewing a rainbow of bags. Rainbowtized is better. always.
Directions for the zipper pouch came from the book “School of Sewing” by Shea Henderson. I have been guiding a group of friends through this fabulous book of projects, and I will be writing a review of the book and our experience with it sometime in the near future. In a nutshell, the review will say something like “THIS BOOK AND TEACHING MY FRIENDS TO SEW IS THE BEST EVER!”.
Love the bags and really love your attitude towards tackling this big job.
One of the things I am expected to make for my kindergarten-age daughter this year is a pencil case, which I actually find quite daunting. I love the look of these pouches so much. I think I’m going to go check out that book (finally)!! I love how you made the insides so pretty.
pouches are so addicting to sew. Have fun!
