Ta Da! Look I knitted something! And it wasn’t so bad. Well, there was a hair-raising experience when I was trying “bind off” and I ran out of yarn. I survived that and it’s done. Squeeshy, soft, warm. I’m happy.
This is a wonderful “adventurous beginner” knitting project. I’ll even break it down for you if you would like to make one.
- Get the pattern and gather the supplies.
- Cast-on your stitches and join them “in the round“.
- Use alternating knit and purl stitches to create what is called a “Seed” stitch. Do this over and over until it makes you cross-eyed with boredom.
- Bind off. Weave in loose ends.
- Have your husband take pictures of it on his lunch break so you can post them to the luvinthemommyhood flickr group before the knit along deadline.
I love it! I’m about to finish my first knitted scarf. It’s a mess, but I think it almost looks intentional! Ha ha! I love the color that you chose. Great job! You should link it up at Creative Me Monday!
Yay! I’m so glad you did this. And seed stitch for a first project? You are The Fearless One! Congrats. And what a lovely shade of blue, too. Suits you.
was I supposed to be intimidated by that? I guess I am to new to know. 🙂
So you didn’t block it? Oh, Jodi, thou must block to be considered a REAL knitter… 😉
I asked and everyone told me no! 🙂
(PS – looks FANTASTIC!)
Gorgeous, and not just the cowl 🙂
Looks so gorgeous on you! And I didn’t block my gaptastic…it drapes lovely and is super soft and get’s better each time I wear it! I don’t think that many of us have blocked the gap-tastic cowl..it just doesn’t need it.
have fun wearing it! you look gorgeous in it! I hope you join in the next KAL too! It’s been so fun having you along for the ride!
That blue sets off your eyes beautifully!
Thanks, darlin’.
Looks great! I’d like to learn how to knit…again :). I tried to make an overly ambicious project with yarn that was too chunky where you had to stitch over 4 pieces of yarn and then pull through (forget the proper term). Yeah, that was a mistake. I would make progress and then my son would get a hold of it, haha. But I’m determined to try again, perhaps with something a bit less complicated.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your sweet comment about the Eddie doll that I made. I love that book and all of Wee Wonderfuls designs, super talented lady. Have a lovely day!

Oh, how impressive! I’m another sew-er trying to get up the nerve to learn to knit, and I’ve been eyeing this pattern for ages: I was waffling over buying the proper needles for it tonight! It’s so encouraging to see someone else new to knitting pull it off.
The cowl looks lovely– that color of blue is excellent!
