Do, Be, Do, Be, Do

May 16, 2012 by Jodi 7 Comments

This week has been a rather reflective one. I mostly blame the arrival of the following  book. (Thank you, Carrie – guest posting at the Modern Mrs. Darcy)

I’ve only gotten 1/3 of the way through it, and now, I am only rethinking MY ENTIRE LIFE. sigh.

My Big Takeaway from it so far is this.

Yes, this ghetto sign is hanging on my desktop screen right now, and it has been for the last few days.

It is a totally necessary reminder that my time is a precious resource, and do I really need to waste it on  checking Facebook every 30 minutes or so? When using it that much doesn’t get me where I want to be? It’s time to take back my interneting as a tool to connect with others, instead of a time sucking burden that I have allowed it to become. (This blog post gives you a taste of what the book is about, if you are interested.)

phew. enough of that…

In the interest of “doing”, I have been working on a number of sewing projects, all of which I am gonna keep secret so I can dazzle you with them later. Hopefully, soonish, I will reveal to you a couple of guest posts, a couple of tutorials, and one Freakin’ Amazing (I hope) Husband-Wife Artistic Collaboration. oh yeah.

(sneak peak)

Enough time spent on this post, Jodi! Hit “Publish”. Grammar errors be darned!

Yep. Trying to fight the beast of wasted time also. Your book looks intriguing. I will have to add it to my library (or inter-library loan, or “ask the library to buy”) list 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you’re working on!

Just a heads up, I don’t think you need to take the book literally to make it useful. I found it mostly useful in how it shifts my way of thinking from “I don’t have time.” to “I have just as much time as anyone else, and I get to choose what I spend it on.”

And I can’t wait to share!

Hurray for paradigm changers! (Well, if the process of re-thinking your entire life doesn’t kill you, that is!)

LOVE the sign smack in the middle of your computer screen (maybe I should do that) and looking forward to hearing more on the sewing projects and the married collaboration!

Totally get the need to scale Facebook back! The last two January’s I have gone on Facebook hiatus and forced myself not to sign in for a month. Both times, I have felt uneasy at first, and then GREAT! Now I hardly ever log in. It’s good to see what people are up to and handy to keep in touch, but once you let yourself in, it’s just too easy to spend ages scrolling and reading and looking at nonsense!!!
